Environmental Assessment
Pest Patrol Environmental Assessments (PPEA) are methods for ensuring that the likely effects of intended pest control
measures on the environment are fully understood and taken into account before agreement is given for those measures
to proceed.
Thorough site inspection and evaluation will reveal the potential threat posed by pesticides to the local flora and fauna.
These hazards can be fully understood, and pest control strategies adapted.
Environmental assessments should provide a basis for better decision-making for the client with environmental
responsibilities.
The process should draw the client's attention at an early stage to the potential environmental effects of pest control
proposals so that they can incorporate remedial measures into the designs of integrated pest management measures.
A further advantage is that the implications of proposed new measures should be thoroughly analysed before
implementation, and more comprehensive information provided with the pest control proposal. Safer, better informed
decisions may therefore be possible.
Any PPEA will be performed by the Pest Patrol Environmental Biologist.
